the yin county annals first cited "chejiao (car and sedan chairs)" prior to 1949 and this road was then officially named chejiao street. a "pengfei" car dealership was said to dwell at the intersection, which used to be a sedan chair dealer. at that time, a collection of chinese paintings was exported abroad and drew the attention of several japanese scholars longing for a glimpse of the famous chejiao street in ningbo.
