as to this small road in haishu district, ningbo, why does it take the name of laoshi (honesty) alley? according to the local documentary siming talk, there used to be a prison camp nearby in the old days, so it was called prison camp alley or prison food alley. on the map of ningbo created in the qing dynasty (1636-1912), this road was recorded as laoshi (prison stone) alley. later through homophonic refinement, its name was transferred to laoshi (honesty) alley.

laoshi alley starts from daliang street in the south and intersects with zhongshan east road in the north. the adjacent sunshine square provides local residents with a place of relaxation and refreshing greenery. the former transistor factory site deep in the road, is now an open-air parking lot, easing the parking pressure of laoshi alley and daliang street. great convenience is thus brought to nearby drivers.
