ningbo, for the first time, has made the top 10 list of “amazing china: the most attractive chinese cities for foreigners”, ranking 7th, according to the annual survey released on october 18, 2021 by the foreign talent research center under china’s ministry of science and technology (most).
in recent years, ningbo has been implementing the “tree-planting project” to cultivate talents and stimulate innovation. the city seeks to create an attractive, welcoming environment for talented professionals from abroad by providing friendly immigration policies and public services as well as good career development and transfer opportunities. as of now, around 4,000 overseas talents from various industries are working and living in ningbo full-time. among them, 12 have been granted the chinese government’s friendship award——china’s highest award for “foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions to the country’s economic and social progress”; 88 have won the zhejiang government’s west lake friendship award. over 1,000 highly-skilled international professionals are starting new businesses or conducting technological research in ningbo, making a significant contribution to the city’s high-quality development.
in the coming years, ningbo will continue to develop platforms for attracting global talent and improve foreign expert administration policies, encouraging promising professionals to grow together with ningbo and strengthen ningbo’s position as a modern coastal metropolis.
